So I’ve finally begun my road trip across the west of the United States. We’ve already locked in a ridiculous amount of miles and have spent far too much time riding in a car. Day one was spent mostly in our car and stopping at a few random kitschy tourist traps before we made it to our hotel in Wall, South Dakota. We decided to stay there so we could wake up and go straight to the Badlands – so stay tuned as that will be on day 2.
The first tourist trap we found on the highway was the Spam Museum found in Austin, Minnesota. Luckily there was a last minute sign pointing off the highway towards the magical building. I was pleasantly surprised with the museum as it was quite modern and had many different attractions. The next tourist attraction we stopped at was the largest Green Giant statue in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Now this thing was HUGE. They even had steps for us to take pictures underneath his legs. Beautiful. He stands at only 55.5 ft tall! Crazy.Lastly, we stopped at a statue park that we assumed to be a collaboration of many different artists in a public park, In actuality it turned out to be $8 for adults to walk through these statues that one man made. They were very creative and interesting, but the whole set up was a bit creepy/sketchy. At least I got some bomb photos out of it. Stay tuned for Day 2 in South Dakota!
